Four arrested in Daudkandi

Police have arrested four people, including an alleged drug dealer and a member of a banned organisation, in separate drives conducted in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla on June 10 and 11.

According to Md Ehsanul Hasan, Second Officer of Daudkandi Model Police Station, a woman identified as Taslima Begum, 35, was detained with one kilogram of cannabis during a search of a passenger bus on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway near the Meghna-Gomti Bridge toll plaza on Wednesday.

In another operation, police arrested Md. Anwar Hossain, 39, from Daudkandi Bazar. Police claimed that he is a member of a banned organization and also serves as the vice-president of the Daudkandi Upazila Sramik League.

Police also arrested Md. Tuhin, 20, an accused in a theft case, from Gouripur Bazar, while warrant-listed accused Nazim Uddin Nizam, 20, was apprehended from the Gouripur Investigation Centre area early Thursday.

Md Ehsanul Hasan, Second Officer of Daudkandi Model Police Station, confirmed the arrests and said legal action has been taken against the detainees. They were later sent to court.
