BCB director resigns one day after election
Newly elected director Mir Shakrul Alam Simanto has resigned from the post of director just one day after the formation of the new board of directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
He submitted his formal resignation letter to the BCB President Tamim Iqbal on Monday. He cited business commitments as the reason for his resignation.
Mir Shakrul Alam Simanto is the son of State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam.
He was elected as a director unopposed in the recently held BCB elections as the lone candidate from Rajshahi region.
In his resignation letter, Simanto mentioned that since his father holds important government positions, a large part of the family business is currently being run under his supervision.
As a result, it will not be possible for him to properly discharge the duties of the director of an important national institution like the BCB.
He also said that he has decided to step down from the post of director out of a sense of responsibility and considering the interests of the institution. At the same time, he has requested the BCB president to accept his resignation letter.
BCB sources said that Simanto had informed his close friends about his intention not to serve as a director before the election. Finally, he officially resigned within a day of being elected.
It is worth noting that Mir Shakrul Alam Simanto was elected as the BCB director unopposed as he was the sole candidate from the Rajshahi region.
However, he had informed them about his intention not to serve as a director before the election. He officially submitted his resignation within a day of being elected.
