BNP warns against fake media cell committees

The BNP Media Cell on Monday cautioned party leaders, activists, journalists and the public against fake committees and unauthorised social media platforms operating under its name, warning that disciplinary action could be taken against those involved.

The warning was issued in a statement signed by BNP Media Cell Convener Prof Dr Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel.

According to the statement, the Media Cell has recently observed the formation and circulation of several purported district-level committees claiming affiliation with the BNP Media Cell. It also noted the existence of various social media pages, groups and online communities using the organisation’s name without authorisation.

The statement clarified that no district or city-level committee has been established under the BNP Media Cell anywhere in the country, apart from its central committee.

It further said that any individual or group claiming recognition as an approved BNP Media Cell committee has no connection with the organisation.

The Media Cell warned that those responsible for creating, promoting or endorsing such unauthorised committees may face allegations of breaching party discipline.

The statement also called on party members, journalists and the general public to remain alert and avoid being influenced by misleading information, fake committee lists and unauthorised online platforms operating in the Media Cell’s name.
