DMP announces special measures for session
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a series of restrictions in and around the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area to maintain law and order during the budget session of the 13th National Parliament.
According to a public notice issued on Friday , the second session of the 13th National Parliament is scheduled to begin on Sunday. To ensure the smooth conduct of the session, authorities have taken special security measures covering Parliament and adjacent areas.
Exercising powers under Sections 28 and 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76), DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has prohibited the carrying of all types of weapons, explosives and other harmful or polluting substances, as well as all forms of assemblies, rallies, processions and demonstrations.
The restrictions will come into effect from 12:00am on Saturday.
The prohibited zone includes the area stretching from the Mohakhali crossing on Mymensingh Road to Bangla motor crossing via the Old Airport Road; from the western end of Bangla motor Link Road to the SAARC Fountain on Hotel Sonargaon Road; from the eastern end of Panthapath through the Green Road intersection to Farmgate; from Shyamoli intersection on Mirpur Road to the junction of Dhanmondi-16 (Old-27) Road; from the Rokeya Sarani intersection through the Old 9th Division (Aircraft) Crossing to Bijoy Sarani Tourism Crossing; from the eastern end of Indira Road to the western end of Manik Mia Avenue; the reserved area of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban; and all roads and lanes located within these boundaries.
The public notice said the restrictions will remain in force until the conclusion of the second session of the 13th National Parliament.
The move is aimed at maintaining peace, security and an orderly environment around Parliament during one of its most important sessions, which includes the presentation and discussion of the national budget.
