Jail chief relieved after audio goes viral

Md Didarul Alam, superintendent of Kishoreganj District Jail, has been stand released after an audio clip of his alleged indecent conversation with a female prison guard went viral on social media.

The order was issued on Wednesday through an official gazette notification signed by Brigadier General Syed Md Motaher Hossain, Inspector General of Prisons under the Department of Prisons.

According to the notification, Didarul Alam has been transferred from his post as superintendent of Kishoreganj District Jail and posted as a prison instructor at the Rajshahi Prison Training Centre.

The notification also said Md Anwarul Karim, prison superintendent of the Hospitalised Prisoners Security Unit at Chattogram Jail, will take additional charge of Kishoreganj District Jail-1.

The action came after a phone conversation between Didarul Alam and a female prison guard of the same jail recently spread online. In the leaked audio, the jail superintendent was allegedly heard making indecent remarks and an inappropriate proposal to the female colleague.

The incident drew criticism after the audio clip went viral, prompting the authorities to take administrative action against the jail official.
