One killed, seven injured as bus falls into pond in Khulna

A passenger was killed and at least seven others were injured after a bus lost control and plunged into a roadside pond in Dumuria upazila of Khulna on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred at around 9:30 am in the Gutudia area, according to local sources.
The deceased was identified as Saidur Sardar Said, 25, son of Asabur Sardar of Kharia village under Laskar Union in Paikgachha upazila.

Witnesses said the Khulna-bound passenger bus was travelling from Paikgachha when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into a nearby pond.

Local residents rushed to the scene and carried out rescue operations, helping passengers trapped inside the bus. The injured were rescued and taken to nearby healthcare facilities for treatment.
Saidur Sardar Said died on the spot, according to witnesses.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over his family and the local community. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the accident, and further investigation is underway.
