5 killed in Bogura, Jhenaidah road crashes
At least five people were killed in Bogura and Jhenaidah road mishaps on Saturday.
In Bogura: Three persons were killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles in Kahaloo upazila of the district on Saturday.
Their identities could not be confirmed immediately.
The accident occurred in the Baromail area of Birkedar Union in the upazila at around 6:15pm.
Birkedar Union Parishad chairman Selim Uddin said three people died on the spot in the head-on collision between the two motorcycles.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Brajen of Kahaloo Police Station told media that police personnel were heading to the scene.
Detailed information about the accident would be available after they arrive there, he said.
A motorcyclist was killed after being run over by a bus in front of the Central Shaheed Minar Square in the town this afternoon.
Deceased Araz Ali, 18, was son of Liton Hossain of Kalukhali village in Kotchandpur upazila.
Police and locals said while crossing lanes on the road in front of the Shaheed Minar square, a bus ran over the motorcycle, leaving Ali dead on the spot.
Later, firefighters recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.
Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Asaduzzaman said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
The bus involved in the accident has been seized and kept at the police station as legal action will be taken regarding the incident, he said.
