Bangladesh sends food aid to Kuwait
Bangladesh has handed over a consignment of food assistance to Kuwait as a gesture of solidarity, friendship and brotherhood amid the ongoing regional situation in West Asia.
Prime Minister’s Special Envoy and Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir formally handed over the shipment, sent as a gift from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, to Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah during a meeting in Kuwait on Saturday.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Rashiduzzaman Millat and Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait Major General Syed Tareq Hossain were also present at the event.
Kuwait’s Foreign Minister highly appreciated Bangladesh’s initiative, describing it as a unique example of the strong fraternal ties between the two countries.
According to foreign ministry, Bangladesh is sending a total of 240 tonnes of food items to Kuwait as humanitarian assistance.
The initiative reflects Bangladesh’s solidarity, goodwill and friendship towards the people of Kuwait in the context of the ongoing regional developments in West Asia.
During the meeting, Humaiun Kobir also formally handed over a letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed to the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
In the letter, the Prime Minister conveyed wishes for continued peace, security and prosperity for the people of Kuwait and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between the two brotherly nations.
The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, the prevailing regional situation, humanitarian cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
Both countries expressed satisfaction over the longstanding friendly and brotherly ties and reiterated their shared commitment to deepening cooperation based on mutual respect, trust and friendship.
They also agreed to expand collaboration in potential sectors including trade, investment, manpower, food security and civil aviation.
During the talks, Humaiun Kobir conveyed an invitation from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to the Amir of Kuwait to visit Bangladesh.
