BADC renews Russia MOP fertiliser import agreement
To ensure the timely supply of quality non-urea fertilizers to farmers and support a safe agricultural production system, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, has been importing non-urea fertilizers from various countries through government-to-government agreements.
As part of this ongoing initiative, Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer has long been imported from Russia through separate annual agreements under the existing Letter of Agreement signed between Russia’s Prodintorg and BADC.
For the fiscal year 2026-27, the existing agreement between Prodintorg and Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation was renewed on May 24, 2026, for the import of 595,000 metric tons of Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizer from Russia.
The agreement signing ceremony was held at a hotel in the capital, where the Chairman of BADC, Md. Azizul Islam, signed the agreement on behalf of the corporation.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Rafiqul I. Mohamed, along with other representatives from the ministry and BADC.
