Khwaja Yunus Ali University felicitates newly enrolled advocates
The Department of Law and the Law Club of Khwaja Yunus Ali University, located in Sirajganj, jointly organized a colorful event titled *”Felicitation for Newly Enrolled Advocates and the Art of Letting Go Ceremony.”*
The programme honoured the newly enrolled advocates with a warm reception and featured an emotionally resonant “Art of Letting Go” segment dedicated to graduating students. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Asraf Ali, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Department Head Mahadi Hasan Romel presided over the ceremony.
Also in attendance were former Vice-Chancellor and Adviser Professor Dr. Hossain Reza, Treasurer Professor Ahsanullah Habib, deans of various faculties, the Registrar, the Controller of Examinations, the Director of the Division of Students’ Welfare, and other distinguished faculty members.
In his welcome address, former Department Head Md. Jahural Islam wished the newly enrolled lawyers success in their professional careers and urged them to uphold ethics, human values, and a strong sense of professional responsibility.
In his keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that such events play a vital role in co-curricular development, leadership building, professional competency, mental well-being, and the overall personality development of students, in line with the quality assurance framework of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC).
Speakers also highlighted the need for curriculum reform, stressing that legal education must be made more contemporary and practice-oriented. They called for stronger integration of practical components — such as moot courts, clinical legal education, internships, and real case analysis — into the curriculum.
They further noted that incorporating alumni professional experience into the curriculum review process would better prepare students for the job market and the realities of courtroom practice.
The Department Head underscored the importance of building a robust alumni network that could provide students with guidance and create invaluable opportunities for professional collaboration and experiential exchange.
Held in a lively and festive atmosphere, the event became an unforgettable occasion, marked by the wholehearted participation and cooperation of students, alumni, and faculty alike.
