RAB intensifies Eid security

The Eid rush intensifying, authorities have stepped up security measures in the capital to ensure safe journeys for homebound passengers and fair practices in sacrificial cattle markets, amid concerns over ticket black marketing, overcharging and broker syndicates.

The Rapid Action Battalion (Rapid Action Battalion) conducted a special drive on Friday at key transport points including Kalabagan bus stand and surrounding terminals, as well as cattle market zones.

Officials said the operation is part of a broader government-led effort to maintain order during one of the country’s largest seasonal passenger movements, when transport pressure, fare disputes and informal syndicates often surge.

RAB-2 Deputy Commander said the objective is to ensure that Eid travel remains safe, disciplined and affordable for ordinary passengers, with strict monitoring against ticket manipulation and excess fare collection.

He warned that organised groups involved in bus terminal brokerage and cattle market exploitation will face zero tolerance enforcement during the ongoing drive.

RAB-2 Company Commander Squadron Leader Md Nifazur Rahman added that daily operations are being carried out under their jurisdiction to ensure government-fixed fares are maintained and that cattle buyers are protected from fraudulent practices.

Security analysts note that such intensified drives during Eid not only reduce immediate disruption but also act as a deterrent against seasonal criminal networks that become active during high-demand periods.
