Govt to revamp primary curriculum

The government is introducing major reforms in the primary education curriculum to develop leadership qualities, civic responsibility, morality and social awareness among students, alongside traditional academic learning.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking as chief guest at the “Halde Pakhi Neel Kamal Award-2026” programme organised by the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association.

He said the reforms aim to build confident, skilled and responsible citizens under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, as part of broader education sector development initiatives.

The minister highlighted that a mid-day meal programme is currently being implemented in more than 65,000 government primary schools to support students’ wellbeing and learning environment.

He added that the revised curriculum will emphasise practical life skills, civic awareness, cleanliness and creative, stress-free learning methods for children.

A total of 57 “Halde Pakhi” members received the Neel Kamal Award at the event, which was chaired by Bangladesh Girl Guides Association National Commissioner Kazi Zebunnesa Begum.
