Mercantile Bank organises workshop on Risk-Based Supervision

Mercantile Bank Training Institute recently organised a comprehensive workshop on “Awareness and Capacity Building for RBS (Risk-Based Supervision) Implementation” with the aim of strengthening participants’ understanding of effective risk management and supervisory practices in the banking sector.

The program was graced by Zakir Hossain, Deputy Managing Director & CRO of Mercantile Bank PLC, as the Special Guest, according to press release.

DMDs Ashim Kumar Saha, Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain, Shah Md. Sohel Khurshid and Tapash Chandra Paul, PhD delivered speech in the inaugural session.

In special guest’s remarks, DMD Zakir Hossain emphasized that fostering a data-driven culture in banking is essential for the successful implementation of Risk-Based Supervision (RBS).

He noted that such a culture enables banks to more effectively identify, assess, and manage risks, thereby strengthening governance, enhancing regulatory compliance, and supporting sustainable banking operations.

A total of 55 participants attended the workshop, gaining practical knowledge and valuable insights into RBS implementation, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance.

Along with the senior officials of the bank, Shamim Ahmed, EVP & Deputy CRO and S.M. Salim Uddin, Head of Training were also present at the program.
