Work closer with grassroots: PM to BNP women MPs
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday urged women lawmakers from reserved seats to strengthen their engagement with the public and play a greater role in promoting women-friendly and humanitarian initiatives at the grassroots.
He gave the directive during a meeting with party-nominated reserved-seat MPs at the Public Administration Hall of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat, according to the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.
BNP Co-Secretary for Self-Reliance Affairs and reserved-seat MP Nilufar Chowdhury Moni confirmed the matter.
Participants said the prime minister asked the lawmakers about their activities and encouraged them to remain proactive in addressing public concerns.
He also advised them to promote the party’s ideals and activities at the grassroots level while expanding humanitarian programmes.
During the meeting, Tarique highlighted the government’s initiatives to strengthen women’s empowerment and called on the MPs to contribute to advancing women-friendly programmes, participants said.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was also present at the meeting.
