5 Murders In Gazipur: Forkan’s body found in Padma

The body of Forkan Molla, the prime accused in the five murder case in Kapasia, Gazipur, has been recovered from the Padma river. On Saturday afternoon, Md. Ilias, the In-Charge (IC) of the Mawa River Police Outpost in Louhajang, confirmed the matter.

He said, locals spotted a body floating in the Padma adjacent to the Louhajang Upazila Land Office, 4 kilometers away from the Padma Bridge, and informed the river police.

After the river police recovered the body and contacted the family of Forkan Molla, the prime accused in the Gazipur 5 murder case, his brother Abdul Jabbar and Kapasia Police Station’s Inspector (Investigation) Jubayer Rahman preliminarily confirmed the body to be Forkan’s. Inquest proceedings of the body are underway. It was later sent to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Kapasia Police Station OC Md. Shahinur Rahman said, upon receiving the news, Inspector (Investigation) Md. Jubayer Ahmed of the station was sent to the scene. Based on the inquest and the statements of the family members, it is believed the body is that of Forkan Molla. Forkan’s brother Jabbar identified the body by the black pants and white shirt. One hundred percent confirmation will be possible after receiving the autopsy and DNA test reports.

The OC further said, locals spotted a body floating in the Padma adjacent to the Louhajang Upazila Land Office and informed the river police. Police recovered the body. It was later sent to Munshiganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Earlier, last Thursday at 3:30 PM, Gazipur’s Superintendent of Police Md. Sharif Uddin stated at a press conference in the conference room of his office that it is believed accused Forkan Molla may have committed suicide by jumping into the river from the Padma Bridge.

On the night of Friday, May 8, five bodies were recovered from a rented house of expatriate Monir Hossain in Rautkona village of Kapasia Upazila. They are Forkan’s wife Sharmin, daughters Mim (15), Umme Habiba (8) and Faria (2), and brother-in-law Rasul Mia.
