‘Bonolata Sen’ raises interest: Nabila

After several delays in its release date, Bonolata Sen is finally set to hit theaters this upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.

Based on the timeless creation of Jibanananda Das, the film has long been a subject of anticipation among audiences.

Although the shooting was completed about two and a half years ago, various complications prevented its release.

With the announcement of its release, lead actress Masuma Rahman Nabila, who plays the central character, has expressed her relief and excitement.

Nabila said, “We finished shooting in November 2023-it has been almost two and a half years.

We were all waiting to see when the film would be released. Some post-production work was stuck in India for a long time.

The director couldn’t travel, which caused delays. But suddenly, director Masud Hasan Ujjal gave us hope. Recently, the whole team watched the film together, and we liked it even more than we expected.”

Even though she plays the titular role, Nabila views the character of Bonolata Sen from a different perspective.

According to her, the mystery surrounding the character is the film’s main attraction.

She said, “Who actually is Bonolata Sen? That’s a question everyone asks! It’s essentially a fictional character created by the poet. Some people believe she may represent women from Jibanananda Das’s life, or perhaps the poet saw the name in a magazine-there are many theories.

I played a central character here, that’s true.

But the film portrays the ongoing search to understand who Bonolata Sen really is.” In the film, Khairul Basar portrays poet Jibanananda Das.

This project also marks Nabila’s first collaboration with director Masud Hasan Ujjal.

Speaking about her experience, Nabila said, “Working with both of them was a great experience. Most of my scenes were with shohel Mondol.

The film required a lot of preparation-sets, costumes-which will be evident when you watch it.

We worked under a lot of pressure, but overall, it was a very good experience.”

Although Eid is approaching soon, the film’s promotional activities are not yet very visible.

Responding to this, Nabila assured that promotion will begin shortly.

She said, “The poster has just been released today. Most likely, the teaser will come out tomorrow.

Gradually, songs and the trailer will be released.

Within the next two to three days, we will all actively start promoting the film.”
