Several Chief Accounts and Finance Officer (CAFO) offices, including the Office of the Controller General of Accounts, were visited on Thursday by Md Nurul Islam as part of the ongoing “Special Service Week” marking the 53rd founding anniversary of the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh.

The week-long programme, running from 11 to 19 May, aims to provide faster and improved public services, particularly for pensioners and service recipients.

During the visit, the CAG inspected various citizen service activities, including pension payment support, immediate resolution of pension-related complications, life verification services, one-stop service centres, GPF-related services and several automation initiatives.

Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (Senior) Md Shariful Islam and Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (Accounts and Reports) Miaz? Md Saifullah Sobhan, along with officials and employees from different CAFO offices, were present during the inspection.

The CAG exchanged views with officials and instructed them to ensure prompt disposal of pension-related issues, including cases involving family pensions, reinstated pensions and benefits for children with disabilities.

He said the government is working to build a people-friendly administration by making public services more accessible, humane, technology-based and accountable.

He also urged officials concerned to perform their duties with sincerity, professionalism and responsibility to ensure quality services for pensioners and other service seekers.

Officials informed the CAG about the ongoing special service activities, while service recipients, including pensioners, expressed satisfaction over the prompt and cordial services being provided.

According to officials, special service activities are being conducted nationwide at 17 audit directorates, 50 CAFO offices, divisional and district-level offices, upazila offices and other audit and accounts institutions under the CAG office.
