Mohammedan reach final with dramatic win against Brothers

The qualifier match of Federation Cup football between Dhaka Mohammedan and Brothers Union was held at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Tuesday.
Mohammedan defeated Brothers Union 2-1 to reach the final.
Bashundhara Kings will face Dhaka Mohammedan in the title fight on May 19 at the Kings Arena.
Sourav Dewan of Mohammedan scored a goal in the 38th minute of the match from a long throw-in by Rahmat Mia.
After the break, Mohammedan tried to increase the gap. Brothers also had a few chances to equalise.
In the 73rd minute, Brothers got a free kick just outside the box.
Captain Jamal Bhuiyan’s brilliantly beat Mohammedan goalkeeper Sujan Hossain with a curved shot. This was Jamal’s first goal this season.
Just as the match was heading towards a tie, Sourav Dewan reappeared on the scene. That last-minute goal ensured Mohammedan’s victory.
Mohammedan entered the Federation Cup final for the 17th time. They have won the title 11 times in the tournament’s history so far.
Sourav Dewan, who has been in great form throughout the tournament, scored six goals in the current season.
Having gone through ups and downs from the group stage to the qualifiers, Mohammedan are now waiting to have the last laugh.
