IUBAT celebrates International Nurses Day
On the occasion of International Nurses Day 2026, the College of Nursing (CN), IUBAT – International University of Business Agriculture and Technology, organized a day-long series of events – including a rally, seminar, Cultural Gala, and Health Check-up Program on 12 May 2026 at the IUBAT Open Auditorium. The event was arranged to recognize the invaluable contributions of nurses to healthcare and society under the global theme, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.”
The program began with the arrival of guests, followed by the screening of the “IUBAT Six Seasons” video presentation. A one-minute silence was then observed in memory of the Founder Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. M. Alimullah Miyan, and former Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Mahmuda Khanam.
The formal session commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Sandra Rumi Madhu, Associate Professor and Chair, College of Nursing, IUBAT. A special video message from Professor Alex Berland was also presented during the program.
Distinguished guests who addressed the program included Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor, IUBAT; Halima Akhter, Registrar, Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council; Dr. Selina Amin, Team Leader at ProNurse Project, Cowater International, GAC; Dr. Md. Shariful Islam, President of BNA; Kalpana Roy, Nursing Lead at Sajida Foundation; Dr. AKM Nazmul Islam, Head of operation at Sajida Foundation; Dr. Faisal Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of Generic Health Care; Dr. Najiur Rahman, Dental Surgeon at Update Dental College and Hospital.
Video messages were also sent by Priyanka Das Sharmi, Assistant Professor, College of Nursing, IUBAT; Eric Shawon Kormoker, Student, College of Nursing, IUBAT; Deki Wangmo, International Student, College of Nursing, IUBAT; and keynote speaker Nilufer Yesmin, Deputy Registrar, Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council.
The presidential speech was delivered by Brig Gen Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain (Retd), Controller of Examinations, IUBAT. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shuvashish Das Bala, Associate Professor and Coordinator, College of Nursing, IUBAT.
The daylong celebration also featured a rally, cultural performances, and a health check-up program, bringing together students, faculty members, healthcare professionals, and distinguished guests in a vibrant observance of International Nurses Day 2026.
