Miraz bags five-wicket: Tigers have slim lead

Bangladesh Cricket team had a slim 34-run lead as they bowled out Pakistan Cricket team for 386 runs on the Day 3 of the first Test cricket match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Sunday.

Right-arm spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz played the key role to wrap up the Pakistan innings bagging five wickets.

Miraz bowled extremely well and finished his superb spell as 38-5-102-5.

Earlier, the Tigers piled up a mammoth total of 413 runs in the first innings on the second day play (Saturday).

Later, Bangladesh scored seven runs for the loss of none at the close of the third day play.

Pakistan resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 179 for the loss of one wicket.

Opener Azan Awais and one-down Abdullah Fazal resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 85 and 37 runs respectively.

Debutante Azan Awais notched up his maiden century.

He hit 103 playing 165 deliveries with 14 fours before he was caught at the slip by Najmul Hossain Shanto off Taskin Ahmed when Pakistan’s score was 210 for the loss of two wickets.

After Azan’s dismissal, Taskin Ahmed hit as second-down Shan Masood (9) was caught at the point by Shadman Islam off the right-arm pacer when the touring side’s total was 226 for the loss of three wickets.

Then, Miraz struck as second-down Saud Shakeel (0) was trapped leg before wicket by right-arm spinner when Pakistan’s score was 227 for the loss of four wickets.

Miraz struck again as Abdullah Fazal (60) was caught at the mid-on by Taijul Islam off right-arm spinner when Pakistan’s total was 230 for the loss of five wickets.

Fourth-down Salman Agha and fifth-down Mohammad Rizwan mended the innings adding together 119 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Mohammad Rizwan was caught at the mid-off by Mahmudul Hasan Joy off Taijul Islam when the visitors’ score was 349 for the loss of six wickets.

Rizwan hit 59 from 79 deliveries including eight fours.

Promising Nahid Rana struck as Salman Agha was caught at the slip by Najmul Hossain Shanto off the pacer when Pakistan’s total was 353 for the loss of seven wickets.

Salman Agha knocked a fine 58. His 94-ball innings was laced with six fours and a sixer.

Miraz hit again as Noman Ali (2) was caught at the slip by Najmul Hossain Shanto off right-arm spinner when the tourists’ score was 372 for the loss of eight wickets.

Miraz fulfilled his five-wicket haul as Shaheen Shah Afridi (13) was caught at the short cover by Mominul Haque off right-arm spinner when the visitors’ total was 374 for the loss of nine wickets.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam struck as Hasan Ali (6) was bowled out by left-arm spinner when Pakistan’s innings came to an end.

Taijul Islam and Taskin Ahmed picked up two wickets each giving 46 and 70 runs respectively.

Nahid Rana took one wicket for 104 runs. Joy was on 2, while Shadman Islam was on naught before the bails were drawn for the third day.
