Minister urges judicial anti-corruption vigilance
Vigilance against corruption must be ensured by both the government and the judiciary to protect the rule of law and strengthen public trust in the justice system, said Law Minister Asaduzzaman Md Asaduzzaman.
He made the remarks while addressing the inauguration of the 20th Orientation Course for Additional District and Sessions Judges held on Saturday at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in Dhaka.
Emphasising judicial responsibility, he said judges must prioritise correct and ethical decisions, adding that justice should be delivered through accountability and a strong sense of duty. He also assured that the government stands beside the judiciary in ensuring fair justice for all.
The law minister stressed that public confidence in the judiciary must be further strengthened, urging judges to avoid any actions that could obstruct justice. He reiterated that governance should be guided by responsibility and sound decision-making rather than popularity.
Taking a firm stance on corruption, he warned that failure to remain alert could undermine long-term efforts to strengthen institutions, uphold the rule of law and protect human rights. He also cautioned against passing this burden on to future generations.
The session was chaired by retired High Court Division Justice and JATI Director General Md Emdadul Haque. Members of the Law Commission, trainee judges, and officials of the judicial training institute were also present at the event.
