President leaves for UK

President Mohammed Shahabuddin departed Dhaka on Saturday morning for London to undergo follow-up medical treatment and health examinations.

According to sources from Bangabhaban, the President left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:45am aboard a regular Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG-201).

He was seen off at the airport by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman Md Asaduzzaman, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps Yousef S. Y. Ramadan, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister’s Office and the President’s Office.

Members of the President’s family, physicians, staff nurses and Bangabhaban officials are accompanying him during the visit.

President Shahabuddin previously underwent cardiac bypass surgery in Singapore in October 2023. He is now travelling for routine follow-up examinations at a specialised hospital in the United Kingdom.

He is expected to return to Bangladesh on May 18 after completing his medical check-up.
