Body of Dipali killed in Lebanon reaches Dhaka
The body of Bangladeshi worker Dipali Begum, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon, arrived in Dhaka on Thursday night.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam and members of the victim’s family received the body at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after 11pm.
The state minister said that due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and flight disruptions, there had been some delay in bringing the bodies of the deceased back home. However, the government is working to ensure the safety and support of expatriates.
She also said Dipali’s family will receive a total of Tk13 lakh in assistance.
Dipali, 34, who hailed from Charbhadrasan upazila in Faridpur, went to Lebanon in search of livelihood in 2011. She had been supporting her family with her earnings from abroad.
