BD Women’s Football squad reach Bangkok without 2 booters
Bangladesh Women’s Football squad reached Bangkok on Thursday. A number of nine members including booters Mile Akter, Rupna Chakma could not go to Bangkok due to visa complications.
Apart from Mile Akter, Rupna Chakma, the others are coaching staff.
The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship will take place at Goa in India from May 25.
Manager of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Khalid Mahmud Naomi said, ” Mile Akter, Rupna Chakma and nine coaching staff could not go to Bangkok due to visa complications.
The Bangladesh Football Federation has continued their connection with Thailand Embassy. If they get visas today, they will fly for Bangkok tomorrow.”
Head Coach of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Peter Butler is an Englishman and Fitness Coach of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Cameron Lord is an Australian.
Besides, Footballer Anika Rania Siddiqui has Swedish passport. So they need not visa of Thailand. Bangladesh Women’s Football squad will take part in a two-week long conditioning camp at Bangkok in Thailand. Then, the Bangladesh Women’s Football squad will go to Goa to take part in the SAFF Women’s Championship.
A total of six teams dividing into two groups will take part in the first phase of the SAFF Women’s Championship. Bhutan Women’s Football team, Nepal Women’s Football team, Sri Lanka Women’s Football team are in Group-A, while Bangladesh Women’s Football team, India Women’s Football team, Maldives Women’s Football team are in Group-B. Bangladesh will take on Maldives in their first Group-B match on May 28, Bangladesh will face India in their second Group-B match on May 31.
The champions of the Group-A will face off the runners-up of Group-B in the first semi-final on June 3, while the champions of the Group-B will meet the runners-up of the Group-A in the second semi-final on the same day.
The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final on June 5. The winning team of the final will be the champions of the SAFF Women’s Championship.
