We’ll play good cricket every day Shanto

Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Najmul Hossain Shanto said, ” We’ll play good cricket every day.” Shanto spoke at a press conference in the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday marking the upcoming first Test match between the highly motivated Tigers and Pakistan Cricket team at ‘Home of Cricket’. The first day of the first Test match will begin today at 10:00am (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live everyday.

Captain of Pakistan Cricket team Shan Masood will lead his side.

Bangladesh Cricket team and Pakistan Cricket team faced each other in 15 Test matches. Of them, Pakistan recorded 12 victories, while Bangladesh won two Test matches and rest of the one Test match ended in a draw.

But in the recent Test series, the Tigers whitewashed Pakistan 2-0 in the two-Test series at Lahore in Pakistan in 2024. Bangladesh registered 10-wicket victory over Pakistan in the first Test match and the Tigers posted six-wicket win over the home side in the second Test match.

Bangladesh Cricket team are going to take the field in the first Test of the year in red-ball cricket. Shanto reminded that the past series will give them confidence.

Shanto said, “We played good cricket in the last series. That was past. But that series will give us extra confidence. We have to play well again in this series. If we have to play good cricket every day, then maybe the results will come in our favour. I am not thinking about the record. Playing well every day is important.”

The Tigers’ captain said, ” There is nothing to be upset about. There were always challenges in Mirpur. Batting with many challenges was always a challenge. If we played on good wickets or those who played before played on good wickets, maybe the average or strike rate would have been better.

But it is not under the control of the players. Recently, the wickets in Mirpur, especially in the white-ball series, were much better wickets than before. Hopefully, gradually the batters will be able to bat better. The average may also change with time.”

On getting Taskin back, Shanto said, “The best part is that Taskin always wants to play Test cricket. Unfortunately, we cannot keep him because of fitness or injury issues or workload management. He always wants to play. There was a long discussion with the trainer-physio before this Test. He is fit to play, that is why he was taken. He did very well in the last series.

Whenever Taskin is in the team, the captain’s job becomes easier, the team gets extra effort from him. Taskin came with that hope. I hope he does well in this series too. The rest of the pacers also have their own plans, who will play when, what is the condition of whom.”
