PM lets ambulance pass
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reportedly broke VVIP protocol on Wednesday morning by instructing his convoy to give way to an ambulance on the elevated expressway in the capital.
The incident took place near the Karwan Bazar end of the elevated expressway while the Prime Minister was travelling to his office at the Secretariat.
Around 9:00am, the Prime Minister’s motorcade was moving from Banani towards the FDC intersection via the expressway when an ambulance was seen approaching from behind with its siren on.
Upon noticing the emergency vehicle, the Prime Minister immediately directed security personnel in the convoy to make way for the ambulance.
Following his instruction, the convoy moved aside, allowing the ambulance to pass without delay.
In Bangladesh, road users often experience long waits due to the movement of VVIP convoys.
However, since assuming office, the Prime Minister has reportedly set a departure from this usual protocol by prioritising emergency vehicles.
