Mohammedan Win: Kings storm into Fed Cup final

Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings stormed into the final of the Federation Cup Football defeating Brothers Union by four goals to nil in the First Qualifier match at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital on Tuesday.

Bashundhara Kings emerged the Group-B champions bagging eight points from four matches, while Brothers Union Club Limited became Group-A champions gaining 10 points from four matches.

The two group champions faced each other in the First Qualifier to enter the final.

Due to heavy rain, the field of Bashundhara Kings arena became muddy and the two teams failed to present normal football due to wet outfield.

Bashundhara Kings led the first half 1-0.

Rakib Hossain of Bashundhara Kings put his team ahead by scoring a goal in the third minute of the match.

Bashundhara’s Brazilian recruit Dorielton scored another goal during the first half but it went in vein due to offside.
The booters of Brothers Union tried to return to the match but they failed.

After the lemon-break, Dorielton netted his first goal in the 72nd minute of the game.

After two minutes, Dorielton made it 3-0 after scoring a goal.

Md Sabbir Hossain sealed the fate of the match (4-0) just two minutes before the long whistle.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited defeated Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society by three goals to nil in their Eliminator Phase of the Federation Cup Football match at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on the same day.

Md Jewel of the popular black-and-white outfit put his team ahead by a header using a corner in the 28th minute of the clash.

After the intermission, Md Jewel doubled the margin in the 53rd minute of the play.

Saurav Dewan of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited increased the tally in the 76th minute of the clash.

Mohammedan’s Uzbek recruit Muzaffarov kick the ball but Rahmatganj goalie failed to grip and Saurav got the ball on his way and made no mistake to put the ball into the blank net.

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will face Brothers Union Club in the Second Qualifier of Federation Cup Football at the same venue on May 12.

The winning team will reach the final of the Federation Cup Football.

The winning team will face Bashundhara Kings in the final.
