Taskin excited to return to Test
Taskin Ahmed has been included in the Bangladesh Test squad against Pakistan Cricket team for the first Test match.
If everything goes well, he will be in the playing XI.
Taskin is delighted to be back in this elite version.
Taskin Ahmed is returning to Test cricket after a year and a half break.
He is making a comeback with the upcoming Pakistan series after breaking his temporary retirement.
Taskin last played in red-ball series during the December 2024 tour of the West Indies.
He was the adjudged the Player of the Series in that two-match series with extraordinary bowling.
However, his body deteriorated after that. He had to temporarily say Goodbye to Test cricket to avoid injury.
After that chapter, his new chapter with the red-ball series is starting again.
Speaking to the media on Monday Taskin Ahmed said, “I am really excited. Because Test cricket has a fun. That fun has a pull.”
Then reminisced, he said, “I was the best player in the last series. I bowled well. The wicket was helpful for pace bowling. I was satisfied with bowling.
There is a high possibility of playing on sporting wickets in Bangladesh too.”
In that last series, he took 6 wickets in an innings, which is the second best bowling by a Bangladeshi pacer outside the country.
He won the Player of the Series award with 11 wickets in two Test matches.
He is sad that he could not play Tests again after bowling like that.
Now, he is standing at the door of return and is excited, hoping to regain that joy of bowling.
Taskin said, “I played two Tests in the West Indies. Although the pacers were helped by the pitches, many of the wickets were hard wickets.
My heel injury started from there. Still, the fun of Test cricket is different.
You have to adapt to different situations, it is hard, I am panting, my body is not moving, my back hurts, but even then I give it my all for the next delivery, this is the beauty of cricket, the joy of bowling.”
He said, “You can bowl as much as you want. You can bowl with your heart. Sometimes your body doesn’t agree, but it’s a lot of fun.
It will be hard, it will be this time too. My niggles have increased more than before. But it’s manageable.”
It is worth noting that although his Test career is almost nine and a half years old, Taskin Ahmed has been able to play a total of 17 matches in his injury-plagued career.
With one more wicket, his 50 wickets will be completed.
