CIRDAP, LGRD ministry aim to work for rural dev
The Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) aim to bring a new dynamism to the country’s rural development sector, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.
He made the remarks during a meeting with CIRDAP Director General Dr P Chandra Shekara at the Secretariat in the capital on Monday.
During the meeting, the two sides held detailed discussions on strengthening mutual cooperation in research, training, innovation and the implementation of sustainable development plans in the rural development sector.
Both parties also expressed keen interest in working jointly to address emerging development challenges and undertake effective initiatives for sustainable rural advancement.
The minister said CIRDAP could become an important partner for Bangladesh in enhancing research, skill development and innovative activities in rural development.
He also assured that the government would extend all-out support to such collaborative efforts aimed at improving the socio-economic condition of rural communities.
Dr Shekara highly appreciated Bangladesh’s ongoing development activities and particularly described the government’s ‘Family Card’ programme as a timely and people-friendly initiative.
Local Government Division Secretary Md Shahidul Hasan, Rural Development and Cooperatives Division Secretary Mohang Shaukat Rashid Chowdhury and other senior ministry officials were present at the meeting.
