EBL, Akij Takaful partner on bancassurance
Eastern Bank PLC has partnered with Akij Takaful Life Insurance PLC to introduce shariah-compliant takaful insurance services through its banking network, strengthening its commitment to ethical and inclusive financial solutions.
The launch was marked by a ceremony at EBL’s head office in Dhaka on Thursday.
Under the bancassurance arrangement, EBL customers can now access Islamic takaful insurance products directly at EBL branches, integrating banking and insurance services on a single platform.
The initiative is expected to enhance customer convenience, promote financial inclusion, and meet the growing demand for ethical, Shariah-compliant financial protection solutions in Bangladesh.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to delivering inclusive and value-driven financial solutions.
By incorporating shariah-compliant takaful products into our banking ecosystem, we are expanding customer choice while advancing ethical finance and financial inclusion in Bangladesh,” said EBL Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail and SME Banking, M Khorshed Anowar.
The collaboration between EBL and Akij Takaful Life Insurance reflects the growing synergy between Bangladesh’s banking and insurance sectors, paving the way for more integrated financial services nationwide.
AKM Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Chief of Islamic Banking; Sarmin Atik, Head of Liability and Wealth Management; and other senior EBL officials attended the event.
