Fuel prices to remain unchanged in May

The government has decided to keep fuel prices unchanged for the month of May, according to a notification issued by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division on Thursday.
Under the new rates effective from May 1, diesel will remain at Tk 115 per litre, kerosene at Tk 130, octane at Tk 140, and petrol at Tk 135.
The prices were last revised on April 18, when all major fuel categories saw sharp increases, including a Tk 15 rise in diesel, Tk 20 in octane, Tk 19 in petrol, and Tk 18 in kerosene.
Officials said domestic fuel prices are reviewed on a monthly basis, taking into account global market trends, import costs, and supply conditions.
The notification added that the decision to maintain current prices was taken after reviewing international market stability and overall supply outlook.
