Khulna Press Club gets new body

The annual election of the Khulna Press Club concluded with veteran journalist Mostafa Sarwar securing the presidency, receiving 113 votes. Sarwar, editor and publisher of Dainik Probarton, emerged as the top choice among members.

Md. Tarikul Islam, editor and publisher of Dainik Shomoyer Khobor, was elected general secretary, while Bimal Saha won the post of treasurer.

In the vice-presidential race, Sohrab Hossain, Md. Zahidul Islam, and Kazi Shamim Ahmed were elected. Md. Bellal Hossain Sajal secured the position of joint secretary.

Bashir Hossain was elected as the editor for library, publication, and information technology, while Mohammad Milon was elected unopposed as the sports and cultural secretary.

The newly elected executive members include Kazi Motahar Rahman, executive editor of Khulna Gazette; sub-editor Md. Anis Uddin; Maksudur Rahman Maksud, bureau chief of Khoborer Kagoj; Sohel Mahmud, staff reporter of Purboanchol; as well as Ziaus Sadat and Mahendranath Sen of Dainik Probarton
