Condolence: NSTU VC mourns death of alumna Brishti

A former student of Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) Nahida Brishti, who was pursuing her PhD at the University of South Florida in the United States, has passed away. Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un.The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ismail, has expressed deep sorrow and grief at her death.

In a condolence message issued on Saturday he said, “Nahida Brishti was a talented and promising student of the 13th batch of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at NSTU.

After completing her undergraduate studies, she went to the United States for higher education. Her untimely death is an irreparable loss to the university and the nation.”

VC further said, “Her sudden passing has deeply saddened all of us. The university family pays deep respect to her memory. At the same time, we demand punishment for those involved in her death and compensation for the victim’s family.”
In the message, the Vice-Chancellor prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family. He also prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Ismail added, “I personally kept track of the latest updates on the matter. We were in contact with the relevant authorities and receiving updates. I was hopeful that Nahida Brishti would soon be found and return to us safe and sound. But sadly, she did not return.”
Notably, since April 16, 2026, two Bangladeshi students Jamil Limon and Nahida Brishti who were pursuing their PhDs at the University of South Florida in the United States had been missing. According to the latest reports, both of them have passed away. Nahida Brishti, an NSTU student, was from Faridpur district. The news of her death was confirmed by her brother, Zahid Hasan Pranto, and Dr. Fateh Nur Robel, Chairman of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at NSTU.
