Formation of NSC is the demand of time
National security means a system to protect a country’s people, resources, borders, economy, and overall stability.
In simple terms, ensuring a countries safetyfrom both inside and outside is called national security.
This is not only the responsibility of the army or police; rather, it is the collective responsibility of a country’s government, people, and various institutions.
The world is changing rapidly. Technology, communication systems, economy, and international relations are changing every day.
Along with these changes, the concept of national security has also become more expanded and complex. Earlier, security meant only border protection or preventing war.
But now it also includes cyber security, economic security, food security, health security. Information security has also been added.
One of the main necessities of a National Security Commission is ensuring coordination.
In modern security systems, information exchange between different agencies is extremely important.
Issues such as terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking, or cybercrime cannot be handled by a single agency alone. These require joint initiatives of multiple agencies.
A National Security Commission (NSC) can work as the center of this coordination. Another important aspect is quick decision-making.
Security crises often arise suddenly, and in such situations, if quick decisions are not taken, the situation may go out of control.
For example, border tensions, major cyber-attacks, or internal instability require fast and coordinated decisions. If a National Security Commission exists, it will be possible to take quick action in such situations.
In the modern era, security services are an extremely important issue for a country’s stability, development, and people’s normal way of life. Earlier, security meant only police or guards.
But with the passage of time, the concept of security services has expanded greatly.
Now it includes not only crime control but also cyber security, personal security, institutional security, and technology-based security.
In the present world, due to rapid technological development, security systems have also become modern.
CCTV cameras, drones, face recognition systems, online monitoring, and digital data analysis – all have made security services stronger.
However, along with this development, some challenges have also been created, which are making the security system more complex.
Modern security service means a system where people, institutions, and the state work together using technology, skilled manpower, and advanced management to protect against various types of risks.
Earlier, security systems mainly depended on physical presence.
For example, police patrols, security guards, or guarding. But now technology has been added to this like analyzing CCTV footage immediately when a crime occurs in an area, mobile tracking, online data monitoring, etc.
In addition, at the personal level, security systems have become much more advanced. Now people can control security systems at home through mobile apps.
The possible structure of a National Security Commission is also a very important issue.
This commission will include high-level representatives of the state, such as the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and technology experts.
In addition, senior military officials, representatives of intelligence agencies, and security analysts may also be included.
Furthermore, a special expert advisory panel can be formed to provide guidance on technology, economy, and international relations.
However, there are also some challenges in forming a NSC. First, there may be conflicts of power among different agencies. Second, creating a politically neutral structure is very important, which is not easy.
Third, lack of skilled manpower and modern technology may limit the effectiveness of the commission.
Fourth, ensuring security in confidential information management is also a major challenge.
Nevertheless, despite these challenges, the necessity of a National Security Commission cannot be denied.
Rather, with proper planning, skilled leadership, and technological development, these challenges can be overcome.
In the current reality of Bangladesh, the formation of a National Security Commission is highly relevant.
The Rohingya crisis, border security, disasters caused by climate change, increasing urban crime, and cyber threats-all indicate the need for a coordinated security framework.
In addition, the changing situation of regional and international politics has made Bangladesh’s security policy even more complex.
The present world is moving through a rapidly changing and complex security situation.
In the twenty-first century, the concept of state security has become much broader, multidimensional, and technology-dependent compared to before.
Earlier, national security mainly meant military strength, border protection, and war preparation, but now it includes cyber security, economic stability, information technology protection, internal law and order, energy security, food security, environmental risks, and international diplomatic pressure.
To deal with these multidimensional challenges, a coordinated, modern, and strong framework is essential.
In this context, the formation of a National Security Commission in Bangladesh has become extremely important as the demand of the time. Bangladesh, as a developing country, is rapidly achieving economic progress.
Due to infrastructure development, digitalization, industrialization, and increased foreign investment, the country is experiencing overall development.
But at the same time, new security risks are also being created. Due to its geographical location, Bangladesh is considered a very sensitive region in South Asia.
The India and Myanmar borders, the strategic position of the Bay of Bengal, the Rohingya crisis, the impact of climate change, and regional geopolitical competition have made the country’s security situation more complex.
At present, our country’s national security system has developed significantly. The army, navy, and air force are playing important roles in protecting the country’s borders.
In addition, the police, RAB, and other law enforcement agencies are ensuring internal security of the country. Moreover, the government is also giving great importance to digital security.
Various laws and technologies are being used to deal with online crime, hacking, and cyber-attacks. However, there are also some limitations in the current security system.
Due to rapid technological change, new types of threats are emerging, which are becoming difficult to handle.
National security is the main foundation of a country’s existence and development. In the future, this security system will become more advanced, technology-based, and expanded.
We can see that technology, cyber security, border security, economy, food and health-all are becoming part of national security. In the future, all these areas will become even more important.
However, not only technology, but also skilled manpower, proper planning, and international cooperation will be equally important.
The most important thing is that ensuring national security is not only the responsibility of the government; it is the responsibility of every citizen.
If everyone is aware and fulfills their responsibility, then the future security of our country will be stronger and more stable.
Overall, it can be said that the future prospects of our national security are very bright, but for that proper preparation, use of advanced technology, and collective effort are required.
National security is the main foundation of a state’s existence, stability, and development. In the present world, security is not only a military issue, rather it is a multidimensional and integrated concept.
For a developing country like Bangladesh, the formation of a strong National Security Commission is now an essential demand of the time. It will make the country’s security system modern, coordinated, and effective.
A well-organized National Security Commission will play an important role in protecting sovereignty, maintaining internal stability, securing economic development, and ensuring the safety of citizens.
Therefore, it can be said that the formation of a National Security Commission is not just an administrative reform, rather it is a groundbreaking step for the future security and development of Bangladesh. Modern security services are no longer a luxury, but a demand of the time.
In this era of extreme technological advancement, when criminals are using digital platforms, our security system must also be smart and proactive.
Along with maximizing the use of technology for capacity building, issues of ethics and personal privacy also need to be considered.
If the challenges can be overcome, we will be able to build a safe and orderly society and state.
