Govt sends medical aid to Iran
Bangladesh has extended emergency medical assistance to Iran as part of its humanitarian support for people affected by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society provided the medical supplies on Thursday, which were formally handed over to Iranian Ambassador in Dhaka Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi at the Iranian Embassy in the capital.
The assistance was handed over by Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Secretary General Dr Kabir M Ashraf Alam. Secretary (Bilateral) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Md Nazrul Islam and Director General of the West Asia Wing Md Humayun Kabir were also present at the programme on behalf of the government, according to a press release.
Dr Nazrul Islam expressed concern over the loss of lives and damage in the Middle East, reiterating Bangladesh’s long-standing position in favour of peace. He expressed hope that the crisis would be resolved through diplomatic efforts to ensure lasting regional stability.
The Iranian Ambassador expressed gratitude for the humanitarian support, highlighting the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Iran and thanking the people of Bangladesh for their solidarity during the crisis.
