Minister urges Hajj team members to ensure quality

Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad) on Wednesday urged Hajj team members to remain careful and not do anything that could harm the government’s image.

He made the remarks while addressing a training programme for Hajj team members at the Hajj camp in the capital’s Ashkona, reports UNB.

He called on all team members to act responsibly and protect the country’s reputation, said a statement from the ministry.

Addressing the participants, he said they would be serving pilgrims and described the role as both an honour and a responsibility.

He said their primary duty is to serve the pilgrims and warned that negligence would not be tolerated.
“There will be no forgiveness for mistreatment of pilgrims,” he said, adding that full attention must be given to the welfare of the “guests of Allah.”

He also said that those who perform well and earn the satisfaction of pilgrims may be given the opportunity to serve again next year.

However, those who fail to provide proper service could be sent back from Makkah.

Among others, MPs Mohammad Shamim Kaiser and SM Jahangir Hossain, Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan, and Hajj Division Additional Secretary Dr Md Ayatul Islam spoke at the programme.

The training session was chaired by Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad.
