Storm warning: Dhaka, five areas

Storm warning issued for Dhaka and five regions, with wind speeds of up to 60 km/h expected from this afternoon to night, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The warning covers Dhaka, Tangail, Mymensingh, Cumilla, and Sylhet, where gusty winds from the west and northwest may reach 45-60 km/h between 4pm and 1am, accompanied by rain and thunderstorms. River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal No. 1, reports media.

In its 24-hour forecast, the Met Office also said that rain or thundershowers with gusty winds are likely at one or two places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, while the rest of the country is expected to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies.
