‘Stand against influential abuse’

Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has urged all to remain united so that influential groups cannot exploit situations arising from crime and social disputes.

He made the call on Friday afternoon while speaking at an exchange meeting with administrative officials at Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila.As the chief guest, the minister said that a concerning trend has long been observed in society, where certain influential individuals use the names of different political parties to serve their own interests depending on the situation.

“They use whatever benefits them at the time, which often leads to unnecessary questions and complications,” he said.To avoid such situations, the minister emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among the administration, political leadership, and the general public.

“We must take measures so that neither I, nor our party, nor the administration faces unnecessary questions,” he added.Addressing the officials, he instructed them to work in coordination with the public and ensure fairness and transparency in resolving disputes.

He also stressed the importance of preventing minor conflicts, especially in rural areas, from escalating into major issues.The meeting was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Cathoyai Pru Marma. Among others present were Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Mohammad Wahid Parvez, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, and Upazila Engineer (BADC) Abdullah Mamun.
