The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) continued its special drive for the second consecutive day on Thursday to clear roads and footpaths from illegal occupation across the capital.

The drive began at 10 am and was conducted in several key areas, including Dhaka Medical College and Moghbazar rail crossing to Banglamotor, Phulbaria Bus Stand-Bakshibazar to Chakharpool, and Nightingale Intersection to Arambagh.

Operations were also carried out in Dholaipar to Jatrabari, Faruk Sarani, Indira Road, Green Road, Ananda Cinema Hall, Bashundhara and Karwan Bazar areas, as well as Kazipara, Shewrapara, Taltala, Bhashantek, Mirpur-14, and from BNS Centre to House Building North Tower and Kakoli outgoing point.

DMP officials said monitoring was strengthened on the second day, with traffic police intensifying efforts to ensure smooth pedestrian movement and reduce traffic congestion.

During the drive, illegally placed goods and structures occupying footpaths and roads were removed. In some cases, mobile courts conducted operations and imposed fines on violators.

Earlier, DMP had requested traders and shop owners to voluntarily remove their belongings. Authorities said legal action would continue against those who failed to comply.

The drive, which began on April 1, will continue until April 5 at different locations and times, said Arifa Akhter Preeti, Assistant Police Commissioner of the Media and Public Relations Division of DMP.
