Bangladesh stands with UAE amid ongoing crisis
Humayun Kabir, foreign affairs adviser to the prime minister, on Thursday called on Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to convey a personal message of solidarity from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman amid the ongoing conflict situation in the UAE.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, Humayun Kabir handed over a personal letter from Tarique Rahman, prime minister of Bangladesh, addressed to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE, reports media.
In the letter, the prime minister conveyed Bangladesh’s firm solidarity with the leadership, government, and the people of the UAE in the context of the ongoing conflict.
He expressed deep concern over the attacks, including the loss of lives, injuries, and damage to property.
Tarique also extended appreciation for the UAE government’s continued support in hosting a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates and for the measures taken to ensure their safety and well-being.
He further reiterated Bangladesh’s readiness to provide any necessary assistance and invited the UAE President to visit Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his government’s condolences over the killing of two Bangladeshi expatriates in the attacks and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to ensuring the protection of all residents, regardless of nationality.
He also conveyed gratitude for Bangladesh’s solidarity and support.
The foreign affairs adviser commended the restraint shown by the UAE leadership and emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels. The discussion also highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UAE, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to further strengthen cooperation across sectors of mutual interest.
Humayun Kabir is currently visiting several Gulf countries as the special envoy of the prime minister to convey messages to regional leadership and reinforce Bangladesh’s engagement with the region.
