445 earthquake shelters identified in Dhaka cities

As part of earthquake preparedness, 445 shelters have been identified in the two city corporations of Dhaka, the Minister of Disaster Management and Relief, Asadul Habib Dulu, has said. He also mentioned plans to include teachers under training programs.

The minister shared this information with reporters on Thursday after a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Secretariat, reports media.

He stated that a total of 445 shelters have been designated across Dhaka North and South City Corporations.

In addition, the government is considering including earthquake awareness in the school curriculum and providing training for teachers.

He further mentioned that a draft list of 145,000 volunteers from various organizations has been prepared to manage post-earthquake situations.
