Tanker with 7,000 litres of petrol seized in Satkhira

Police in Satkhira seized a fuel tanker carrying 7,000 litres of petrol and detained its driver on suspicion of illegal transportation, officials said on Monday.

The incident occurred early in the morning in the Gava area of Fingri Union under Sadar upazila of the district. Locals became suspicious after noticing the tanker heading towards Fingri and Bangdaha Bazar-areas without fuel stations-and intercepted the vehicle before alerting police through the national emergency helpline.

A team from Kotwali Police Station responded promptly and took control of the tanker.
Police said the driver, identified as Ripon Sheikh, 38, a resident of Khalishpur in Khulna, failed to produce valid documents for the fuel consignment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masudur Rahman confirmed that the tanker, reportedly dispatched from a depot in Khulna by a dealer linked to Meghna Group, was seized on charges of illegal fuel transport. The driver has been taken into custody, and further legal action is underway.
