Justice Rezaul Hasan resigns
Justice Md. Rezaul Hasan of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court has resigned.
On Monday (March 30), he submitted his resignation letter to the President through the Supreme Court administration. Sources from the Supreme Court confirmed that the resignation letter has been received and forwarded to Bangabhaban for necessary action.
Earlier, K.M. Mojibul Haque, Chairman of Shah Group, filed a complaint with the Supreme Judicial Council against Justice Md. Rezaul Hasan, bringing forward allegations of corruption and misconduct.
Along with requesting an investigation by the Supreme Judicial Council, the complaint also urged that appropriate action be taken under the Constitution if the allegations are proven.
According to the complaint, Justice Md. Rezaul Hasan demonstrated biased conduct in proceedings of two company cases in 2010 and 2011. In one case, arguments were attributed in the judgment to a senior lawyer who was not present during the hearing; this ruling was later overturned by the Appellate Division.
In another case, 1.3 million shares belonging to the applicant’s wife were cancelled without making her a party to the case, which, according to the applicant, is completely contrary to the principles of justice.
