Ctg fish processing factory gutted by fire
A fire broke out at a fish processing factory in the Sagorika area of Pahartali, Chattogram, on Sunday, destroying valuable goods.
Witnesses said the fire started around 11:45 am at a storage facility of BD Sea Food Limited, located at C-Port No. 3 in the city, and quickly engulfed the area, according to Jashim Uddin, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Eight firefighting units rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control after about an hour and a half of intense effort. No casualties were reported.
The exact extent of the damage remains unclear, and Fire Service officials said a full assessment will be possible only after an investigation.
Firefighters faced additional challenges due to the cold storage facility, which made access difficult. The extreme cold and presence of gas hindered firefighting operations to some extent, Jashim Uddin added.
Factory manager Neamat Ullah said the extent of the losses would be determined once the fire is completely extinguished.
