Iranian Filmmaker Majid Majidi calls for global solidarity amid rising tensions

Acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi has recently issued a strong statement urging global intellectuals, artists, and citizens to stand against what he described as oppression and injustice, as tensions escalate in the Middle East.

In a message released in the name of Almighty Allah, the internationally renowned director framed the current conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States as a broader struggle between “truth and falsehood.”

He alleged that the impact of the conflict extends beyond military confrontation, affecting civilians, including children, and damaging homes, hospitals, and schools.
Majidi emphasised that the Iranian people remain steadfast despite what he described as sustained pressure and violence.

He highlighted a sense of national unity, stating that people across all segments of society—from leaders to schoolchildren—are part of what he called a continuing “story of resistance.”
The filmmaker also accused major global powers of attempting to reshape the Middle East to control its resources and expand geopolitical dominance.
However, he argued that the resistance shown by Iran demonstrates how national will can withstand even the most powerful international forces.

Calling on writers, thinkers, and artists worldwide, Majidi stressed what he termed their “moral responsibility” to speak out against human suffering. He urged them to use their platforms to defend justice, human dignity, and truth.

He concluded by expressing confidence that people across the globe sympathize with Iran’s stance, describing its demands as centered on independence, dignity, and resistance to oppression.
He characterised the current moment as a “day of awakening,” where global voices of conscience must rise against injustice.

The statement comes at a time of heightened geopolitical strain in the Middle East, with growing international concern over civilian safety and regional stability.
