55th death anniv of Shaheed Dr Harinath observed

The 55th death anniversary of Shaheed Dr Harinath Dey was observed on Friday. During the Liberation War, he was killed by the Pakistan Army on 27 March 1971.

Born in 1914 in Dhaka, Dr Dey served as a lecturer in the Chemistry Department at Dhaka University from 1937 to 1955. In 1942, he earned his PhD in Nutrition Science from Dhaka University.

He joined the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) in 1957 as a Scientific Officer. Until his assassination, he was the Principal Scientific Officer of BCSIR and a consultant at the Diabetic Hospital, Dhaka.
