Middle East tension: 22 more flights cancelled at Dhaka airport

A total of 797 flights were cancelled from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the past 28 days amid the conflict in the Middle East, a Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) official said on Friday.

Of those, 22 flights were cancelled on Friday, said Muhammad Kawsar Mahmud, an official of the CAAB public relations department, reports media.

He said: “On February 28, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan closed their airspace due to the security situation in the Middle East. In such a situation, flights from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport also began to be cancelled.”

He added: “In the past 28 days, 797 flights have been cancelled. On Friday, 22 flights were cancelled. If the situation does not improve, this trend will continue.”
