Helpless driver gets gift

Salauddin, a van driver from Solpo Pennai village in Daudkandi Upazila, Cumilla, lost his only means of livelihood when his van was stolen nearly a month ago, leaving him struggling to support his family of five. Stepping in to help, Asif Kabir, convener of North Cumilla District Chhatra Dal, personally funded a new van for Salaudddin.

The formal handover took place on Tuesday in front of the BNP office in Gouripur, Daudkandi.
Overjoyed, Salaudddin said, “I felt helpless after my van was stolen. Receiving this new van gives me the chance to restart my work, and I am deeply grateful.”

Local residents praised the humanitarian act. “Support from capable individuals gives hope to struggling families,” they said.

Alamgir Hossain, General Secretary of Safe Roads Now (NISCHA), Daudkandi branch, called it a remarkable gesture that inspires others.

Shakil Ahmed Chowdhury, President of Gouripur Munshi Fazlur Rahman Government Degree College Chhatra Dal, added that Kabir’s humanitarian work complements his political engagement and encourages similar efforts.

Asif Kabir remarked, “It is my fortune to stand by the helpless. Doing something for people brings me the greatest satisfaction.”
