Aarong and Bangladesh set a Guinness World Records

Aarong has received a Guinness World Records title for the “World’s Largest Craft Store” for its Dhanmondi flagship outlet.

The recognition highlights the scale and range of craft products displayed at the outlet, says a press release.

The announcement ceremony included the unveiling of the Guinness World Records certificate.

The programme also featured the premiere of a showcase music video where Armeen Musa and the Ghashphoring Choir performed Rabindranath Tagore’s “Anondoloke”.

“This is more than a record – it is recognition of the hands behind the craft,” said Tamara Hasan Abed, managing director of BRAC Enterprises.

“When we honour craft, we protect heritage-and when we expand the platform for it, we expand economic empowerment.

This achievement celebrates the artisans whose skill sustains communities and transforms tradition into livelihood and dignity.”

The Dhanmondi flagship outlet incorporates installations highlighting Bangladesh’s craft traditions.

These include Santal Gaon, a pottery installation created by nearly 100 potter families, and The Great Arena, a 44-foot Nakshi Kantha crafted by 250 artisans over six months across four floors.

The recognition will also be marked through a pop-up gallery experience at 10 Aarong outlets across the country. The initiative will allow visitors to explore features of the Dhanmondi flagship outlet.

Aarong is a fashion and lifestyle brand and a social enterprise of BRAC. The organisation works with more than 87,000 artisans across Bangladesh.
