BGB seizes smuggled goods worth over Tk 131.19cr

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized various types of smuggled goods and contraband drugs worth over Tk 131.19 crore from different parts of the country including border areas in February.
The seized items included 1.169.72 kg of gold, 10,878 saris, 4,920 pieces of three-piece sets, shirt pieces, bed-sheets and blankets, 11,642 ready-made garments, 887 metres of cloth, 4,13,498 cosmetics, 2,464 pieces of imitation jewellery, 18,83,545 fireworks, 3,646 cubic feet of wood, 13,852 kg of tea leaves, 8,474 kg of betel nut, 17,472 kg of coal, 55,260 cubic feet of sand,195 mobile phone sets, 4,928 mobile displays, 5,643 spectacles, 29,477 kg of cumin, 16, 292 kg of sugar, 33,870 kg of onion, 1,204kg of garlic, 3,556 kg of seeds 4,701 kgs of fertiliser, 2,392 packets of pesticides, 94,227 pieces of chocolate, 638 cows and buffaloes.
three touchstone statues, seven pickups or human haulers, seven tractors, two private cars or microbuses, 29 CNGs or easy bikes, 34 motorcycles and 26 bicycles or vans, said a BGB press release.
The BGB also recovered 13 pistols, one rifle, three hand grenades, 16 magazines, 160 rounds of bullets, 16 crude bombs, 82 electronic detonators, 3kgs of gun powder, 24 arms and five kgs of chemical substances.
The BGB also seized, 17,09,080 Yaba tablets, 2.268 gram of heroin, 2,199 bottles of Phensedyl, 1.244 grams of crystal meth Ice, 6,458 bottles of foreign liquor, 100 litres of locally made liquor, 1,368 cans of beer, 937.35 kgs of hemp, 1,61,853 packets of bidis and cigarettes, 1,99,054 tablets and injections, 2,477 bottles of Escafe syrup, 9,361 Anegra and Senegra tablets, 250 grams of cocaine and 3,19,863 pieces of other medicines and tablets.
